Vision Art: 2013-2014

Our Vision Art Program provides students with more opportunities to examine art ideas and learn about more art content. Lines of thinking are enhanced by the teacher's material and methods suggestions while art history can be juxtaposed with student's works of art. Children are able to collaborate on projects in the NPE Art Room under my supervision and guidance. When individuals are able to pursue lines of thought in settings that support student autonomy, students practice the same kinds of thinking skills they will utilizie when they become independent of the school setting. In this learning environment, a premium is placed on making choices, practicing idea generation and making ideas come to fruition in real contexts.

Deep Learning Experience

“No one can predict how far an individual child may go in dynamic education settings when an understanding teacher (or parents), using all the resources of the community, awakens his/her imagination and interest and thus releases his/her own emotional drive.” Clara Belle Baker

Welcome to the NPE Art Room!

The New Palestine Elementary Art Room is a place of joyful learning! You are invited to visit us anytime!
First time visitors will soon discover that our room is a special place! In our art program, children are the creative decision makers. Our boys and girls are considered capable of real art and are treated and trusted like real artists! Because our room is a place of authentic art making, we encourage our students to be prepared to bring their art making ideas so that we can see how best we can make them come to fruition. Artists are always planning, they are always thinking. We encourage our students to try out their art ideas in the art room, and consequently, practice making real art.
Sometimes our ideas are derived from our interests in other subjects. It is not uncommon to come in to the art room and see children engaged in experiments involving Newtonian physics! STEM comes alive in our room and we encourage trans disciplinary lines of thinking. For more on the NPE Art Room please visit Mr. Gaw's other art education blog here:
